Akita Characteristics

 

The Akita is an irresistible attention getter!  One of the most qualities is the large muscular physique, curled tail, erect ears set upon a "bear-like" head and their incredible coat.  The Akita creates the impression of instant grandeur, commanding immediate respect.

 

While Akitas are extremely intelligent, their independent mindedness is often confused with stubbornness, or lack of trainability; more often, however, it's simply a case of the Akita learning quickly and becoming bored.

 

The Akita is very loyal and develops an intense bond to their family.  Because of their natural instinct to protect, it is imperative that the puppy be well socialized and trained so that be can distinguish between friend and foe.
